Asset Manager (Real Estate Debt Fund)

Our client is a leading real estate lender specializing in providing single-source debt solutions to multifamily sponsors. Their expertise lies in originating, underwriting, and financing acquisition / rehab bridge and construction loan transactions that are first mortgages, mezzanine loans or preferred equity investments. We are seeking a talented and experienced Asset Manager to join the growing team. 

Position Description

The Asset Manager will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing the portfolio of bridge and construction loans. This position requires a deep understanding of real estate finance, particularly in the multifamily sector, and the ability to navigate the complexities of bridge-to-takeout, subordinated debt and construction financing. The Asset Manager will bring best practices and implement them across the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor the performance of the loan portfolio, ensuring alignment with company goals and risk parameters
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews and risk assessments, identifying potential issues and recommending mitigation strategies 
  • Collaborate with the underwriting team to evaluate new investment opportunities and their potential impact on the overall portfolio 
  • Develop and maintain financial models to analyze portfolio performance and project future outcomes 
  • Prepare detailed reports on portfolio performance for senior management and investors 
  • Work closely with asset management and origination teams to optimize portfolio returns and manage risk 
  • Monitor market trends and regulatory changes that may impact the portfolio or create new opportunities 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of portfolio management strategies and policies 
  • Manage construction loan draw process to ensure accuracy and that funding procedures are followed 
  • Participate in the bridge-to-takeout transition process, ensuring smooth execution of the takeout strategy 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Real Estate, or related field; MBA or relevant master’s degree preferred 
  • 10 years of experience in real estate finance, with a focus on the multifamily sector 
  • Strong understanding of bridge and construction lending, subordinate loan structures and multifamily financing programs 
  • Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills 
  • Fluency in Excel, financial analysis software, and portfolio management tools 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience with bridge and subordinated debt financing structures
    Knowledge of construction lending, real estate capital markets and investment strategies
    Familiarity with risk management practices in real estate lending
